Innovative Focus: Strategic Thinking.

Mission doesn’t change… but that doesn’t mean your strategy shouldn’t! Mission is the “what” that you are trying to accomplish, while Strategy is the “how”. Over the last decade, whether in churches, businesses, or nonprofits, I have seen significant confusion over these terms and how they should play out in the life of an organization. Specifically, I have seen many times where people conflate strategy and mission, thinking that the way they do things (strategy) is their mission or why they exist. In reality, the way you do things or strategy should likely change over time, because the world in which you live is changing and ever more rapidly I might add. Whether its addressing changing cultural realities or embracing new technologies and better ways of doing things, the best organizations embrace an internal culture that is open to tweaking and changing their strategies over time, as more effective and efficient methods become available. Simply put: They embrace a culture of innovation!

One of the main reasons I started Grey Matter was to help faith-based organizations think more strategically and also share new strategies that I have developed that might benefit them. These strategies come in many forms, including solutions, resources, blog articles, and consulting. In this newsletter, I want to briefly highlight the consulting service, where I help people work through strategic plans, which help them to realize the mission that they have been given but are struggling to implement. To explore this service, click the button below. Additionally, if you want more insight on how to help you or your organization be more strategic, checkout our latest blog article, “Sacrificing Sacred Strategies”, also featured below! Thanks for taking time to reflect on these important concepts and just like Joshua at Jericho, may you be blessed with strategic grace!
